Merry Christmas

"Mary brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

- The Christmas story from the gospel of Luke

Wishing you a safe, joyous, Merry Christmas, and a healthy and prosperous 2007.

Prayer (and Praise) Requests 10/21

1 Timothy 2:1 "First of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings should be made for everyone."

1 Peter 2:24 “ …by {His} stripes, ye were healed.”

I added the verse from 1 Timothy because we have a mixed bag this week. There is some very bad news from some, and some very good news for others. In corresponding with my good friend Scott, I was reminded "In all things, give Him praise.”

*UPDATES*

Norma says that her son John will receive his new kidney from her daughter Theresa on Wednesday October 25th!!! The surgery will take place in Richmond, and they should be home for Thanksgiving. Please keep John, Theresa and the family in your prayers.

Please keep Kathy Thompson and her family in your prayers. She lost her only child Friday, October 13, a young man named Chris Thompson, while he was at college. Chris was diabetic and the cause of death is thought to be insulin-related. (He was diabetic.)

Please pray for Army Specialist Jeremy Chad Snowden. He was shot in Fallujah, Iraq in November, 2004, and has made a remarkable recovery, but still faces some challenges. Also keep his mother, Vicky Field, in your prayers, as she has taken the bull by the horns. His story (and hers) can be found at this link. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/prayer/snowden.asp

*NEW ADDITIONS*

Received this from my friend Scott-
“Hello friends,
The news from the hospital (Friday) was not good for a co-worker with a brain tumor. The family was informed that they need to get his affairs in order. His brain tumor is inoperable. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. Pray that also through this tragic event that others will be drawn to the Lord. ... I was reminded Wednesday night at church and again (Friday) morning in my devotions that our intercession should be combined with praise and adoration. Praise God that my co-worker knows the Lord.
Thanks,
Scott”

Scott also sent these requests in a earlier email:

“The second is for a friend who is moving this weekend/next week. The next 4-5 days will be very stressful for her, actually this week already has been. Her name is Billie.

Finally, a former co-worker of ours, Karen, lost her father this week. (Reese Jackson Carter). She has had a stressful time. She needs the Lord now more than ever. Please pray she will open her heart to Him.”

Thank you, Scott. They are in our prayers. Please keep us updated.

My friend Melvin asks for prayers for a job and for his ministry. He was approached by a cousin just out of prison about going to church. He is not a Christian. Please pray for his cousin and for God to use Melvin in the right direction on winning him to the Lord.

And please keep a co-worker, Yolanda, in your prayers. She is a single parent and our sales admin in the Richmond office. Yolanda lost her mother suddenly on Thursday, October 19th from an asthma attack.

Received an anonymous post from a lady who has found a lump on her breast. She is also having problems in a relationship, and is quite scared. She asks for your prayers in these areas.

Please pray for 7-year-old Amy, who has a brain tumor.

Please pray for Larry Silver. He is the VP of a local wireless station who went into the hospital on October 17th with heart problems.

Also, Joanne Clark, who just had 3 major procedures and will be off her feet for 5 weeks.

And my friend Desiree and her daughters. She is looking for a job after freeing herself from an abusive relationship, and they have financial challenges, including the imminent loss of their home in early November.

Please continue to pray for:

My mother, Doris, who continues to recovery from surgery in August. She’s taking physical therapy, and is still having some pain. Please keep her and my Dad in your prayers.

Suzanne's mom, Rachel. Please continue to pray for healing for her knee.

Our twin nieces, Mollie and Madison, who are now 8 months old. Also, keep Bryan’s parents, Steve and Lois in your prayers.

Please pray for Bill Vaughan, a co-worker and friend of my brother. Bill has a brain tumor. He has undergone chemotherapy and radiation, but the tumor has grown. He is being sent to UVA.
